Caduceus Medical Logistics

Caduceus Medical LogisticsWhen the Bronx NY Veterans Administration Hospital needed a life-saving donor kidney delivered in lightning time, they called Caduceus Medical Logistics. Caduceus Medical Logistics is a Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) offering courier services across the nation. Caduceus moves fast and reliably, managing anything a health system needs. Specializing in the safe, legal, and timely transport of pharmaceuticals, medical specimens, donor organs, supplies, medical records, medical instruments, and vaccines. You name it, they move it. They keep the items secure, at the right temperature range, and all other physical and regulatory requirements. Every delivery is critical in their own way and tied to patient care.

Being "born" during the pandemic is notable on its own. The East Longmeadow, Massachusetts-based medical logistics company has put together a management team that combines a variety of expertise. Mark Speight, COO and Partner; Bryan Kosoris, CEO and Partner; Wipada “Aom” Arunsri Speight, CFO; and Claude Humphrey, CAO; are specialists in medical logistics, mechatronics, industrial and computer engineering, project and financial management, and military leadership and execution.

Looking towards the future, the Caduceus team's sights are set on revolutionizing health care logistics by utilizing the most cutting-edge technology and algorithms available that are guided by engineering first principles. To build a company that, by caring for, and developing colleagues; they can apply people power, logistics solutions, and any possible technological advantage. This includes machine learning, unmanned air systems, and unmanned ground systems to positively impact healthcare performance and efficiency and ultimately effecting better patient care.

"Our success and survival and ability to procure initial capital funding was in large part due to MSBDC Senior Business Advisor Anita Eliason's effort, guidance, and advice. And just knowing that we had the support of the MSBDC team was invaluable."

Caduceus received Contractor Performance Assessment Reporting System (CPARS) exemplary ratings across the board. CPARS ratings are stringent processes and annual performance reviews are written by government agencies to track how well companies are meeting contractual requirements. These reviews are very important because they influence future contract award decisions, and ultimately future business.

Mark and Brian agree, "That’s not even our proudest achievement. Our proudest achievements are when our team can implement life-saving processes and results for our customers and their patients. Equally as important is that we are employing people that are reliable, that care about their roles, and determined to complete very important logistical challenges under pressure. If you are determined as we are, you make a network of people who you can rely on to help with those things you aren’t passionate about. There are tricks you can learn by being around others who have done it before. It’s being part of something bigger than yourself."

The Caduceus team believes "Our success and survival and ability to procure initial capital funding was in large part due to MSBDC Senior Business Advisor Anita Eliason's effort, guidance, and advice. And just knowing that we had the support of the MSBDC team was invaluable. Anita had regular, enjoyable, productive, and often long discussions involving strategy that covered all aspects of our venture. Anita interacted with and encouraged our entire team. More than everything else, just having someone there holding the candle in the dark, dark days of the pandemic was important. Anita’s prior experience in healthcare was particularly encouraging and helpful. I didn't have to explain how the industry worked, something that well, you just can’t know that stuff without experience." The MSBDC also helped Mark and his wife Aom through a successful exit strategy with another business.
