Scam Alert
April 1, 2024 - A scam is circulating that uses the America's SBDC and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) logos to try and gather information from small businesses. No SBDC (Small Business Development Center) can make an SBA grant and small businesses should hear only from SBA (@sba.gov). The email appears to be sent from apply@smallbusinessdevelopmentcenter.online.
The email looks legitimate with the use of SBA and America's SBDC logos. This particular email scam claims that you have been awarded a $30,000 grant from the Small Business Development Center. It lists account information and states there is a $300 tax clearance fee. Delete this email.
Report any suspected fraud to Office of Inspector General’s Hotline at www.sba.gov/about-sba/oversight-advocacy/office-inspector-general/office-inspector-general-hotline.
